PG Medical Students to get weekly off, 20 CLs per year

National Medical Commission (NMC) has decided that all PG students will be eligible for a weekly off and at least 20 days of casual leave per year.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has introduced reforms in Postgraduate Medical Education, including equal stipends for PG students at private and state-run colleges, minimum casual leave, and residential accommodation.

According to the recently - notified "Post - Graduate Medical Education Regulations, the Students will be provided Reasonable Time For Rest in a day.

They will be permitted a minimum 20 days of Casual leaves per year and five days of academic per year.

Subject to exigencies of Work, Post - graduate students will be allowed one weekly holiday.

All these will reduce stress on Students. Earlier there was no written provision of leaves.

These are among the provisions in the National Medical Commission (NMC)'s "Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023", or "PGMER-23".

THE NEW REGULATIONS WILL BE ALLOWED POST GRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 2018, STATED.
